Shane Koyczan “Shoulders

In his poem Shoulders by Shane Koyczan tells the story about how our world is the only one we have and that we shouldn’t take it for granted, “the world is not a punishment but it is a responsibility,” which means that we are not here just cause but we are responsible for our own life, our own world. This poem says that we have to take care of our little blue dot in the big black sky. The theme in this poem is knowledge and change for change. This poem describes the world as “turning the impossible into somehow” making a change so we can keep our home clean, safe and how we shouldn’t take out world for granted.

Shane Koyczan “shut up and say something”

Shut up and say something Shane Koyczan is about you should never hold back what you want to say, and that everyone fails and everyone is scared in some way, you should never bite your tongue if you have something to say, you should never be sorry for speaking your mind. The theme of this is no regrets or sorry. The poem tells you that everyone has some sort of fear of saying what’s really on their mind so much is never said and a lot of regret. “Walked to the coffee shop to ask out this girl and all I could think is, shut up and say something,” this part of the poem speaks out to me because some many times I’ve wanted to say something or don’t say anything at all so all someone can think is “just say something”.

I looked up from the tiled floor, " You see i was running to the bus, and i trippped so everything flung out of my bag."

"You're kidding me right!" Mr. vancamp screamed "You expect me to believe that hoopla."

"Please sir im telling the truth, i fell and all my homework went down the storm drain." I begged on my knees

"Fine ill just print you out all new sheets."

All of a sudden my mother came running into the classroom, "Honey, you forgot these on the counter." With my homework in her hands, I put my face into my hands.

Mr.vancamp looks down at me, "I expect those by the end of the day please."

"Oh?, did I miss somethings?" Mother asked

"It seems that your kid here," pointing his finger at me, "tried to pull the cover over our eyes."

"Oh really now, wait till your father hears about this one."
